Another (dry) comedic effort by the ever-fruitless Leto =) Let me set the scene... It 'twas a dark and stormy night (really...it was) - Somewhere back in Kaladim, in the far back of the Cleric's guild in a room seldom used is Leto...with a solem yet thoughtful look on his face. He begin's to set is equipment aside - leaning his Midnight Mallet against the wall, putting his Steel and Bloodstained armor in a pile in the corner...even taking off the little whatnots and setting them aside until he looks the same as he did at level 1. Then reaching down into his gear he pulls out an espically worn backpack and from that he takes out his very first suit of patchwork armor...something few people knew he still had. Putting on his patchwork armor, and looking himself over he feels a sense of satisfaction...but then he looks across the room to a large object under a thick cloth sheet. Slowly pulling the dusty sheet away he see's something he's not seen in quite some time...his piano. (Leto's grandmother was a Wood-Elven Bard) Letting his fingers run across the keys with a touch of sadness, he sits down. Taking a few worn sheets of paper from his tunic he sets them on the piano and test the sound of a few notes. Soon a song (sounding oddly similar to Billy Joels' "New York State of Mind") begins playing...yet on the top of the first sheet is scribbled the words "Newbie State of Mind" Eyes closed he begin's playing...the sound of the music taking him back in time...each note bringing back the feelinig of a time long past...then without warning he begins singing in a low yet clear voice: Sometimes I want to get away, Take a holiday from the Cleric's life, All that healing and buffing, Fighting Undead all night... For a night I want it easy, Just wanna rest my mind... I'm in a Newbie State of Mind. (mmmmm...mmmmm) I could fight near Kaladim, Or at Felwithe facing Bat's and Bee's... Or go to Kelethin, City high in the Trees.... It really doesn't matter, As long as I'm wastin' time... I'm in a Newbie State of Mind. (mmmmm...mmmmm) It wasn't easy, livin' with Undead, I had a touch - of the somber old-time blues, Now what I need is a little break... A Dwarven Ale...no bad news... Don't give me reality, Been at Level thirty... for a long long time. Don't care... If it's right next door... Or in Felwithe. I just wanna get away, Maybe a Savvy taxi ride... I'm in a Newbie State of Mind. (yea! mmmmmm...mmmmmmm....oh yea...) (Suddenly a Saxophone plays from nowhere) It wasn't easy, livin' with Undead, I had a touch - of the somber old-time blues, Now what I need is a little break... A Dwarven Ale...no bad news... Don't give me reality, Been at Level thirty... for a long long time. Don't care... If it's right next door... Or in Felwithe. I don't have posessions, I've left them all behind... I'm in a Newbie State of Mind. I'M JUST TAKIN' A TRIP... On a Savvy Taxi Ride... 'Cause I'm in a.... I'm in a NewBie-e-e State o-o-o-f Mi-i-ind! Yea-a-a yea-a-ay! I'm in a Newbie State of Mind! With that the piano goes quite...Having spilled his Dwarven Ale, he searches the pockets of his patchwork Tunic and pants for a few coppers for a short beer...Sadly finding none, Leto wanders out into the city of Kaladim asking any he sees for something free to help out a newbie... sigh...Such is the life of a Dwarven Cleric. Eventually finding a kind soul who would help a newbie, Leto buys all the short beer he can afford and returns to his piano...Playing and drinking his cares away he looses himself for an evening. Later (much later) that morning he finds himself passed out on his piano...wondering how he got there and why he didn't have on his gear. He had a headache that only a Cleric could cure (lucky for him) and soon he was off again fighting the Evil of Norrath. Sometime late that following night he stumbles across a few tattered sheets of paper in his gear..."Newbie State of Mind" scribbled across the top...finding no interest in it, he immediatly auctions it off thinking perhaps it could be used by an enchater or some other spell user for research. Oddly enough tho, it was a Bard that found the most interest, and as the Bard walked away reading his purchase, he begin's humming the notes to a song that would soon become the rage in Bar's all across Norrath. Funny how things turn out sometimes, eh? Savvy, could I bum a taxi ride later? =D - Leto | ||
