The Official Children of Tunare’s Necro Guide to Norrath Volume 2 Written by: Aeur X'Umbrage Greetings fellow Necro, This guide is a follow up to my previous one. Again, in this guide, I will do my best to advise you on what choices to consider making as well as those to avoid. Keep in mind that the following suggestions are through my experience and my opinion, as well as some gathered from other's opinions and information. Ergo, if anyone tells you otherwise, or anyone feels differently about the following, it is you who must decide what is better for you to do. I have tried to put this guide in the best chronological order I could think of and hope it helps you. To start with, a few errors need to be attended to from Vol. 1. 1) The pet line of spells are not Alt., they are Conj. 2) The web site: http://www.eqnecro.com, does not seem to work. Vs. Undead Nukes A mistake I may have made, was not keeping up on Undead nuke spells. I rarely fight undead, and have slacked on getting the spells, and thus, using them. Also, they use the skill Evocation. So you if you plan on going after undead, be sure to have your Evo skill up to par. Words and Research I hope you got a list of words we use, and make sure you collect the right ones. Even though you have a spell that is researched, you can keep researching it up till a certain level to help increase your research skill. Spells Again, when selecting new spells, I suggest getting info on them to find out with ones you think you really want/need. I am not happy with the results of Feign Death. I am 0 for 3 with it. I prefer hitting Harmshield and running like crazy to 1) zone, 2) safety of guards, or 3) get far enough away to cancel it and Gate. Here is something interesting though; the upgrade to the level 12 spell Engulfing Darkness is the level 29 spell Dooming Darkness. Doom Dark hardly ever worked at first, so kept using Engulf Dark. But at level 35, Doom Dark has been starting to work better. The level 24 spell Screaming Terror does NOT make the target run away. it will stay in place, and when the spell wears off, target will aggro if you are nearby. Otherwise, it will never know you existed. At level 34, our new HP to Mana spell, Call of Bones, turns us into a skeleton. Beware this spell! If you cast in town, near guards, or certain NPCs, you will become KOS! Pet Tips Some new info on pets: I had forgot to include the toggle Taunt command; /pet taunt off will stop pet from taunting /pet taunt on will reactive pet's taunt The level 29 and above pet(s) begin to dual wield. You must hand them 2 weapons at the same time. Also, if he fails to show a weapon, that is because his hand-to-hand is better than the weapon you gave him. Ergo, he rejects the inferior weapon The level 34 pet uses one (1) bone chip! Hunting Tips Where to hunt is entirely up to you. Chances are, you have a higher level char, and your necro is of lower level. So this gives you the opportunity to explore areas and see which ones your necro will hunt in. I began flip-flopping between South Karana and Kunark (Lake of Ill Omen and Frontier Mountains) from mid 20's to mid 30's. At 35, I started in The Overthere and Icelclad (cougars). While in SK, I found that I could solo gnolls outside Paw, at level 29. I collected Dagger(s) of Dropping for pet to use. Also, Gnoll Hide Lariats are good too, they proc a Stun. But, I believe they only drop in Paw. My new hunting strategy is; pull with Darkness (snare), throw a DoT or two if time permits, have pet attack, and Fear. Then sit. Keep casting DoTs if needed and mind your health, and re-cast Fear if needed. Travelling To get to Kunark, you have to take the little boat from the dock in Oasis to an island in Timorous Deep. There you get off the boat, and have swim ashore when it stops. Then go to the right to a dock where a big boat will come to. The big boat takes you to The Overthere zone ( north-west corner where the "evil" city is. There are merchants there and a bank, and you can bind within the walls). To get to Velious, there is a dock on the east coast in North Ro. Take little boat to island in Iceclad and get off. Walk to other side of island where a rather strange looking boat will come to. As of writing this guide, I am level 35. So I have not included any tips beyond this level, nor spells beyond it. Thus, perhaps a post level 35 guide will be scribed in the future, whether by myself, or another person. See you in Norrath, Aeur X'Umbrage, 35 Dark Elf Necro | ||
